The Transmission Controller ensures correct and fault free broadcast of TRT Arabic on its multiple delivery platforms via a shift pattern designed to serve the needs of a 24 hour news operation.


  • Schedule preparation
  • Ensure schedules are well-prepared ahead of transmission times, with all required media present and all outstanding issues proactively followed up to satisfaction
  • Review playout schedules periodically to ensure any new issue is picked up without impacting on air
  • Carry out schedule amendments accurately and effectively for planned or unforeseen changes
  • Log all schedule changes in a professional manner and ensure timely communication with the necessary parties and during shift handovers
  • Playout and monitoring
  • Secure outputs of all channels and their associated services, ensuring high output quality as intended
  • Proactively monitor the relevant broadcast systems and channel outputs, utilizing all available monitoring tools
  • Prepare incoming circuits, undertake line-ups and back-up provisions
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure there is a common understanding of programme timings
  • Co-ordinate the playout of commercial breaks in between live programme segments
  • Preview all high profile and new pre-recorded programmes and break contents ahead of transmission times to ensure their contents match the descriptions
  • Actively monitor the outputs of all pre-recorded programmes and break contents to ensure they are played out as scheduled
  • Take the necessary steps to rectify on air issue to minimize its impact to our viewers
  • Perform first line diagnosis of issues, on air impacting or otherwise, and escalate to the management or support team as required
  • Take ownership and follow through all issues until they have been satisfactorily resolved
  • Put in place effective measures to ensure identified issues are not repeated
  • Log the cause, impact and resolution of all issues professionally and accurately to aid communication and shared learning
  • Contribute to the upkeep of pertinent information to ensure an efficient transmission operation
  • Keep abreast of the development in broadcast technology and operational practices; actively look for opportunities to enhance your professional contribution to the department

  • At least 4 years in a similar capacity within a broadcasting environment
  • Extensive experience with playout automation and traffic systems and broadcast server technology
  • Working knowledge of industry best practice in broadcast operational workflows, monitoring and control, and incident management
  • A good command of spoken and written English.
  • Native or Advanced in Arabic.
